Dogs are Hunting Partners - Let's see 'em

Loved seeing all these! Glad I'm not the only one who takes there dog hunting!

This is my Hunting partner, his name is Copper.
That look on your dogs face in that last picture says it all.

what happened to his ear in the first pic?

Haha ya he’s a happy dog! But I was running him on a back road and I’m not sure what he seen I’m guessing a gopher… but when he ducked the barbed wire fence he nearly split his ear in half. He was bleeding like a pig but was mad at me for ending his run shortly after 😂

Rzrbk and Sadie Mae_Denio NV.jpgMy Sadie Mae on the left and my buddies dog, Riley on the right. Bittersweet memories since my buddy passed unexpectedly and much too young. Phot taken near Denio, NV. Sadie Mae is still kicking, although retired at 14yo.

This is Ruby. My daughter wanted a dog for her son to grow with like she had when growing up. This is our 3rd Chesapeake Bay Retriever. We enjoy working on hunting up moose antlers. She will be pulling the grandkids in a sled this winter. 20210409_081057.jpg20210409_081251.jpg

Our busted little family.

Jimmy on the right came from the Humane Society 11 years ago. 6 years ago he started having seizures. He takes loads of meds now to keep them in check as much as we can. He is the most docile, happy and obedient dog I've ever been around. We never trained him at all, but he listens to commands. They called him a Husky Shepherd mix, but who knows. The neighborhood kids think he's a coyote when we take him on walks. :D

We got Sammy on the left almost 14 years ago when someone left her abandoned, tied to a picnic table in a park on a 100 degree summer day. I really wish I could have found the people who would do such a thing. She went through obedience training, but is hardheaded and willingly looks the other way when you call her name. She's the best though. A year ago she inexplicably lost her ability to see. So now she bumps into a lot of things, but she gets around surprisingly well.

Here's my girl...we hunted her first season last year with some success on pheasants and quail. This spring and early summer we switched to chukars for field trial and hunt test work. She earned her AKC Junior Hunter title in 4 straight runs in late May - early June. We have been working on retrieving to hand this summer and are getting there nicely. We have been after grouse already this month. We have a coach that is constantly afield with us whether we are hiking or hunting.
