Critter. The bigger the animal....the less forgiving on the recovery.

No. Medium duper, normal duper and any well placed shot with a 100gr or larger bullet traveling at an adequate rate of speed will do it. Eg people killing bull elk with 100gr archery broadheads.

really don’t want to compare archery and bullets.

they both kill by blood loss but there are tons of differences in the wound/damage.

I've been known to use and like smaller calibers/cartridges for hunting. But i'm not sure I'd have tried an elk with a .357 Mag. Well done!!

Sure you do! I've heard about it over and over, it takes at least 3-4 shots too, that's why you have to carry one of those 10-round bullet wallets packed with finger-sized cartridges...
