I'm finally in a financial position to start going on hunting trips out west which has been a dream of mine since I was a kid but with the cost of tags and travel increasing I need to get the best "bang for my buck". Outfitters are all but out of the question and I prefer DIY so my main question is this: is it possible to go on an Alaskan moose hunt for $2000 per hunter on public land? This would probably be a once in a lifetime hunt for me but it's something I want to do before I'm no longer able to. Alaska is what I consider a hunter's Mecca and to experience that would be a crowning achievement in my hunting career but I need to be practical. I'm taking my first trip to Colorado chasing elk this fall and hope to start applying for tags in Wyoming and New Mexico next year but if I intend live out this dream I need to start saving and planning now. Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom.
