Deer - lets see em

Got him yesterday morning, opening day. Took almost 6 hours just to get him to the 4wheeler. Guy i met hunting said i should get him scored. I mean he is a nice deer but don't really think he is THAT big. Opinions?

Great buck. Were you dragging him whole for 6 hours? Seams like it would have been easier to quarter him out and carry him if he was that far from your wheeler.

Thanks. Yeah it was just over a mile and a half of rocks and hills to get close enough with the wheeler. I had thought about quartering him out but.... Like an idiot, i went ill prepared for that. Usually keep Paracord in wheeler but i had used it and kept meaning to replace it and well never did. So had i quartered him up i would have had no real good way to haul him around 13 miles on the wheeler. Lesson learned the hard way lol. But me and the deer had great conversation on the way out though hahaha.

Hard work but makes for good memories! I couldn't tell you what he scores but I do think he is a great buck that I would be dang proud of.

Had a great morning with my daughter on her first deer hunt this morning. She made a perfect double lung shot at 100 yards on a buck she liked from scouting. It was so fun to see her excitement and share that moment with her.

Thats awesome, im taking my daughter out this weekend. Most of the season was weekdays unfortunately so she only gets 2 days. Hopefully she will get an opportunity to get one

Can anyone spot the deer in this picture? Sent to me by a friend.

I see the man in the moon ?

Congratulations. I think he’s hooked. Pretty soon you’ll hear, “Dad, when can we get more tags…” Happy hunting, TheGrayRider a/k/a Tom.
He's already hooked. This is his 7th big game animal--he already 2 other deer, 3 antelope and an elk under his belt. But this was his biggest deer to-date, so he's pretty pumped! We're heading out next weekend to try for elk.

My 10 year old son asked if we could go on a road trip (to our family ranch in WY) and go hunt deer. He didn’t have to twist my arm too hard. Made the few hour drive yesterday afternoon and got there in time for an evening hunt.

We found plenty of whitetail bucks running around and finally picked one. Shot was 350 yards with my 7 SAUM - the 145 LRX dropped him in his tracks. He’s not old enough to hunt yet, but he definitely had a good time.

Great buck and great looking property. Fun to give the son a lasting memory.
