First legal buck I had a shot at all season. Sat it out through a pretty good rain this morning and he showed up around 10:30 pushing off a spike.
I'd seen him a couple times in the dark driving into the farm but this was his first daylight appearance. Would have been my first drop tine but he busted that off as well.

This year’s Buck! I spotted him around 600 yards and made a bold flank on him by dropping down the ridge into a creek bed. I crawled to crest the next ridge and waited for him to step away from the ponderosas. Took the shot at 272.

Here in my part of Wisconsin the rut is usually pretty much winding down by the time gun season starts. This year seems to be a bit of an exception. This buck was third in line behind a panting doe.
one of my neighbors keeps pretty extensive photos and a list of shooter sized bucks. After hearing of all the area success on nice bucks this year, when he asked for a picture so he could confirm what buck it is and check it off of his ' survivors' list . I responded with " Might as well tear that list up and start a new one next year " !View attachment 251521
What a cool buck, really like his color!
