Deer - lets see em

Not a big deer by any standards but is a trophy on my wall from Kodiak in 2019. Was there for a month long work trip and luckily had coast guard friends there that took me out a couple days and was able to get a shot at this guy. Best part was the per diem from work essentially paid for the hunt and to mount him.

Going back in time to 2018. Archery and rifle respectively. Killed about 5 days apart. Then Archery 2016. Killed him first day of my "rutcation" then spent the rest of the week shooting ducks.

Nice buck! Definitely a first (or any) day shooter there.

I’ve shot a few on the first day of my Wisconsin rutcation and it always seems like I missed out a bit. It is nice duck/grouse hunting and in-season scouting but I do get a bit jealous when the other guys are getting ready to go out in the morning and I don’t have a tag.

This one was down within the first hour on stand of a 9-day vacation many moons ago. I can still remember the sheer terror of watching that arrow flight and being super relieved when the arrow blew through him, thought for sure I planted one in the shoulder when the arrow was on its way.

Here's an old picture. That's me on the right and a friends step-father on the left. The buck is a 3x4 but essentially a huge 2x2. The biologist said he was 10 1/2 PLUS years old.

7 1/2 - 8 1/2 year old buck a couple years ago from south eastern Montana.
