Deer - lets see em

This has got to be the biggest muley I’ve ever seen in person. I wish I could say I shot him, but it was shot by a nice guy I met at a trailhead in Colorado. 32” wide on the tips of those kickers, and the mass was incredible. I couldn’t even wrap my hand around the bases. The guy said he’d hunted hard for a few days and hiked many miles, then this buck came strolling in right by his camp on a day when he was resting. 😆

Hopeful to get my profile pic down this year. Northern IL. He vanished after 10/20/21. His left brow tine resembles an old medieval weapon, which garnished him the name “Mace.” Good luck this year, all.

Had to clean out the email and have come across some older ones - from back when you had to use a camera to take pictures. I had him charge in to my grunting during the rut and was trying to self film the kill which did not go well. I would like to think I had him, had I not tried to film. Stepped out in front of my Dad on the gun opener around mid day. He was pretty torn up from the rut.

Unfortunately I was not taking the photos. 67A4B5FD-4CB4-48C1-BD31-A4C79D2E56D5.jpegC17ACB0B-F139-4710-8541-7F49F2D7BC8B.jpeg

More from years past. My Dad shot the smaller one on day two of the season. Going in to track the deer was probably going to bump some bedded deer on to the neighbors, so we decided to loop around and come in from the backside. It worked like we had hoped, and we bumped a bedded buck and doe I had seen earlier in the day. They stopped on my dad’s lane and my dad hollered at my brother (who was standing next to him) to shoot. My brother deferred, so my Dad shot the second buck. Turns out the first buck only made it 40 yards off the lane before he tipped over. I had the big one in range on the bow opener but he didn’t give me a great angle and I passed. All worked out. 43CE4570-2E8D-4010-A487-6C14D0A2CD7A.jpeg633B4F7A-8842-4885-99FF-DEFC143BF6DB.jpegB1A58F98-09DA-4C3E-8039-6D0AE2DC1721.jpeg
