My wife and I are thinking about going to Death Valley National Park over spring break. The plan is to fly into Las Vegas and rent a car. Any tips or places we must see/hike while in the park? Where would you stay? We are thinking 3 days in the park and a day on each end in Vegas.

Thanks

That's rough country.

I don't know how humans got through it.

There's an oasis there that's really cool, and enjoyable.

Located near Furnace Creek Visitor Center, Furnace Creek Campground is the only NPS campground in the park that accepts reservations and has sites with full RV hookups as well as dry RV and tent sites. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance for camping dates between 10/15 and 4/15; the remainder of the year the campground is first-come-first-serve. This is the most popular campground in the park and reservations are strongly recommended.

We have stopped at the CrowBar Cafe several times; Shoshone, just outside the south end of the park. Good food. Interesting area for mining in past times.

Just a few miles from Death Valley is Beatty and you could look for desert sheep right there. Can see them almost anywhere, even right from town

Furnace Creek.
Remember this as a 10 year old. Bats flying around at night.
Salt flats.
High mountains overlooks.

Also lots of burros to see in Beatty and out in the hills. Even though they are kind of a nuisance I always enjoy seeing them

Everything I read talks about a high clearance vehicle. Does this mean a simple SUV from the airport or does it mean a jacked up truck ready to do some major hill climbing? I want to do the Titus Canyon Road but for the most part the map shows I will be on blacktop for the rest of the places I want to see.

It will be time well spent - hopefully not too hot. Stop at ALL of the points of interest. And yes it hard to believe it can 90ish+ and then there can be snow on the peaks to the West.

Amazing to think the real natives actually spent part of the year surviving in the area.
