This euro does him more justice and it was one of the first I did myself. I've never been big on scoring but I wonder what he would measure with his mass and length?

Casualtie of EHD in western South Dakota

Found this during hunting season in 2011. Just the head on a little knob with brush surrounding it. Don't know what got it, could have been lost from a hunter earlier, or a wolf/cat kill. Pretty smelly packing it out, hunting the rest of the day.

I once found a cougar killed buck, but it was too stinky for me to take the skull, so I decided to give it a few months then come back for it. When I came back, it still smelled but was tolerable. I picked it up and there was still about a foot of spine connected. I figured I could slam it down on a rock to break the spine off. Instead of the spine breaking off the skull split and splatted liquified rotten brain matter all over me. Holly cow, that smelled bad and it was all over me. My buddy thought it was hilarious until he had to make a decision on whether to ride back with me in the cab of the truck or ride in the bed of the truck in a 45° rain.

Probably a blue tongue casualty. He died about the right time of year. I frequently find whitetail remains in the dense cover of this Montana Hi Line creek bottom but rarely see the live ones. They are there, just very sneaky. I usually see lots of muleys in the bottom and adjacent coulees.
