I always knew this day would come, but I didn’t think it would go down this way. Our 11 yr old lab was accidentally run over yesterday while the family was getting ready to head home from the holiday weekend. He ran his old legs out all weekend and laid down to catch some shade under a truck. Crushed his back leg/pelvis area. Vet loaded him up on pain meds so we could let the kids see him today. In true lab fashion, he was still trying to eat crumbs out of my kids car seats, even though he couldn’t stand up. I know I’m doing the right thing, but man it sure doesn’t make it any easier.

Man that’s a tough one. My best friends lab got ran over when he was about that same age. It was really hard on him and his family. Sorry for your loss.

Holy crap I’m sorry!! They leave a huge imprint on us. Try to focus on the good life you gave him!

One of the saddest (hopefully) events that will ever happen to you.
Sorry for your loss.

Damn that's tough, condolences to your family.

Very sorry to hear. Putting my lab down a few years ago was one of the hardest things I've done.
