Coyotes and foxhounds

Today’s results were 2 chases and 2 coyotes. The one had a bad case of the mange. Both were over 40 pounds. We had another one on its feet but ran out of daylight. Pulled the dogs and l figured that’s a good place to start tomorrow.

They catch a few but we usually shoot them in front of the dogs as they circle. I usually start with a pair of hounds and if it turns into an extended chase I’ll put in a fresh pair.
I didn't know they circled back for a shot consistently to hunt them like that...like a rabbit? I'm in VA and plenty familiar with dee hounds, but didn't know you could hunt coyote like that. Where can I learn a little more about that? We have plenty of yotes...

Ask around and you’ll find some houndsmen and we generally love to show someone how are dogs work

I will someday. El Jason is my buddy, and watching his dogs work is impressive. I know how hard he’s work with them. I don’t have the time now, with kids at home. I respect it.

It’ll be great to take on someday! Keep sharing the pics!
