I see in the Canadian headlines today that a mink farm in BC has tested positive for the corona virus. Guess we need to keep an eye on our pets. I probably worry more about my dogs than I do my own health.20201120_150237.jpg

Denmark is killing all mink in their country. They ate saying they transfer covid easily. I listen to traphouse podcast, number 28 goes in detail about it.

This shit has been spreading for almost a full year now.. don’t you think if pets were really at a risk there would be reports of pets getting sick... I’m so tired of this BS.....

There were reports months ago of pets getting covid, so it has been out there. I think with most pathogens being somewhat host-specific, it's reasonable to think that while the virus can pass relatively easily from person to person, it may be possible for it to pass to pets, but not as readily as to another person. You get vaccinated for one kind of Bordatella, and your dog gets vaccinated for another. That generally takes care of things, but I wouldn't bet my life or my dog's life that either of us couldn't get the other kind, especially in a setting of immune compromise.

The thing that did it in for me was when the government said they're going to change the quarantine time from 14 days to 10 days. The reason they said they were changing it would because not enough people were listening to the 14-day quarantine after being exposed. It's not about the health in their eyes it's about following directions. If they would have worded it differently then I could understand it, like if there was a breakthrough but they just said blatantly because people weren't following the 14 days they went to a 10-day.

I remember in the beginning of the spring before tests were even available to the general public a tiger at the bronx zoo tested positive.

What's the point in testing a tiger??? The more we learn... The more none of it makes sense
Well, I suppose if a tiger can catch it, he can infect others who work at the zoo. Guess that explains why they tested him. Makes sense to me.

I seem to recall someone on here just the other day expressing concern his dog was showing symptoms. Has anyone heard how that turned out?

I may be wrong but I don't think people are hanging out with the tigers at zoos... I'd imagine they have a short contact when someone feeds them. I don't think they're within 6 feet for more than 15 mins...

Yea I think if I’m within 6 feet of a covid positive tiger... the covid is the least of my worries but that’s just me

If the animal is sick, I suspect the contact with people will need to be more intimate and frequent than normal ... and because it was sick is almost certainly the reason it was tested. Makes sense to me.

Some of these guys would never have figured out the anchor needed to be pulled up to leave the harbor.

Sometimes big discoveries are made by asking improbable questions and getting unexpected results. Something tells me you guys wouldn't have sailed west from Spain in 1492....

I think everyone here understands that... we’re just making some jokes and having fun with it.

Like I said originally with all the millions of people that have caught this worldwide then stay home with their pets because they are forced to quarantine away from other people don’t you think if there was even a moderate risk towards pets we would have seen an uptick in pet deaths and this would be talked about?? Sometimes you don’t need to pull up anchor and leave the harbor to find your answer like you eluded to... just saying....
