So I have been with this Multi-national company as a Technical sales manager now for a year and a half. My role is to drive sales in the Western US in a segment of our industry that this company has not been really active in up to this point. It has about 220 employees across the world including Europe, South Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and North America. I have a counterpart in the Eastern States in my same role. When we both were hired, our manager covered the Midwest, along with some Independent Sales Agents.
Four months into my job that manager who interviewed and hired me left/"retired from" the company, and his boss took over. This guy covers all the commercial side of the business in North America. The company never replaced my original boss. Our Technical and Product Development head asked me if I would like to be the technical contact for our distributor in Canada. I accepted that responsibility and visited our distributors customers with tem in November and then attended their sales meeting last month.
Meanwhile at the beginning of this month my "new boss" took a position with one of our Independent Sales agents. The company had not filled my original boss's role, so now the Commercial Director from the UK is my new supervisor. Just spent a week with him in my territory (which neither of the two previous guys offered or did).
I'm feeling like I need to be looking for some backup options since a couple of NAM senior leaders have both left after long careers in the company. Looking for input on what other red flags I should look for that would indicate my position is in danger...and who in the company I should consider an Ally.
