Corona virus

For what it's worth that's the only expert I've heard say that. Every other one, including the one that was on the mayo clinic podcast is harping on hand washing making a real difference.

When I hear differing opinions like that, I tend to stray away from the one that is going against the grain, and also trying to sell a book at the same time.

My thoughts exactly. That’s the first time I had heard it was airborne.

There’s a link to a study claiming that Coronavirus survives in air here, though it is awaiting peer review. Seems believable to me though there’s so much misinformation out there I can’t tell.

We are short on testing because we have been short of tests. It seems to have started with a pissing match between the WHO and CDC. The CDC wanted to use their test and flu monitoring network. It took them a couple of weeks to build the test and then the tests had a flaw (in that they didn't work), so they had to start over. The lack of actual tests meant there had to be strict criteria on who got tested. The criteria didn't match up with escalation of the virus - community spread was already showing, so "recent travel to affected area" as a requirement was sort of pointless. Last Sunday, hospitals were supposed to get 2m tests this week and 2-4m next week. Those estimates seem to be a bit aggressive because there continue to be a shortage of tests. We have been behind the curve on this. I hope it is fixed and I hope it stays as a good test for future events like this. I am sure that "Everyone who wants a test can get a test" is complete BS, but it may better. Not everyone needs to be tested, but if you still are trying to limit spread, testing is the key. Otherwise you might as well set up temp hospitals for treatment of the most serious cases.

My point was simply they weren't made in a Trump factory.

Why is anyone surprised government beauracrats are inept?

What’s the false positive rate on these tests? There is one. There is always one. So when we test a bunch of people without symptoms like, I didn’t know, the entire NBA and NHL, and come up with 3-4 people that test positive, are we really sure they have it?

Calm down? Calm down? My grandfather was larger than life to me. Bought me my first shotgun at 14 to hunt deer with. 3 days before he died I carried what was left of him because of cancerfrom his couch to the car to take hospital where he stayed his remaining days.

2 weeks ago my dad had a mild stroke and isn't very healthy. He has to go to the hospital for physical therapy. All these people running around like nothing is going on except spreading a virus that will kill him and you want me to calm down. I think I'm pretty fing calm
I get it.
My apologies for the troll job. Im just used to volunteering when someone wants to start swinging.
May your father have the best recovery possible.

My wife just got off the phone with a colleague who is a cardiologist. Today the cardiologist got a phone call from a gastroenterologist regarding a mutual patient. The patient was getting a colonoscopy and passed out, the gastro said you need to go to the hospital. Patient said, no way, I don't want to get corona virus, call my cardiologist. Cardiologist got on the phone and said, it seems like a cardiac event, you need to go to the hospital, right now, call an ambulance if needed. Patient refused, left, and died a few hours later of an apparent heart attack.

All events in which a crowd can gather at my school (basketball games, assemblies, concerts, etc.) have been cancelled for the next three weeks. Only a matter of time until the district cancels school altogether. My guess is next week. Hope I’m wrong.

These are strange times.

They have already cancelled school where my stepdaughter goes to school and the surrounding counties.

I was at a Science Fair last night. There was a large gathering of snot-nosed kids and their families from all over the state. Nobody seemed too concerned about Coronavirus. I tried to check the hockey scores and saw the NHL has now postponed it's season indefinitely. I know we should be careful, but somehow I think at a national level we're buying into the hyperbole a little.

And why the run on toilet paper? I don't get that. All things considered, I think I'd me more interested in Kleenex; this isn't cholera.

Here's my point. Trump had weeks of lead time to LEAD the various agencies. He spent that time holding rallies, calling it all a hoax, coming from his political enemies. Even recently he has gaslighted the public about the extent of testing available. He put Pence, who doesn't know his ass from third base when it comes to science in charge of the government response.

I got it, you're in the tank for Trump.

Or you could look at the converse and we could have Hillary who would figure out a way to steal and stash $.90 on the dollar of relief funds.

Go ahead and show us that quote where he called the VIRUS a hoax.

Dr. Fauci seems to be a new celebrity, but I can't help but wonder, did he just get start his job last month? We are short tests, we are short masks, we are......

What the hell was he doing prior to outbreak?

Like in every crisis that hits, what we find out is that DC if full of incompetent ass hats.
