Well, a case was reported in my girlfriend’s office building in Manhattan. She’s working from home for at least a week, and I might be asked to not come to work til we’re in the clear. Looks like I’m taking some PTO and doing some whitetail scouting...that is, if I don’t end up one of the few dead 29 year olds 😬

Whitetail scouting in March? You should check the bass pre-spawn bite first.

I’ll fly fish for trout in no kill zones...no bass spots open yet.
I like to scout right after the snow has cleared. Scrapes and rut sign are still visible before the greenery comes up. Plus, it’s a good time to look for sheds even though I never find any.

A lot of good stats on that site. South Korea has tested more extensively than any other country and they are seeing a definite decline in new cases which is encouraging. Also their death rate is lower than many others, probably because of that increased sampling and more accurate diagnosis of the masses. Right now Italy appears to be the outlier. Also just 4 new cases in China the last 24 hours.

Probably important to compare outcomes to responses. How did Italy respond to the first cases versus South Korea? It's worth noting in those stats that on Feb. 24 (14 days ago) Italy had 229 cases. Now they have 9,172 cases and 463 deaths. The US currently has 624 cases.

Agreed. I haven't looked in to what measures SK took in particular, but they appear to be effective.

Did my part the evening by shaking everyone's hand at Tim Fox's campaign event. I wonder how many of those campaigners are going to get sick - that wouldn't be good no matter what your political views are.

I review the data and see SK as an outlier.

My concern is that the US is following the path of Italy/Spain/France/Germany. I see similarities in the Euro countries and the US pattern.

Who was the HT member that returned to Chicago from neighboring city to PRC's epicenter and said there were no med evals conducted upon his arrival?
We heard from him since? Hope all's well. Hopefully it was early enough before it really took hold of the population. Was a different thread though don't recall the title.

Also, China may have only handful of new cases, but what happens when they finally resume life? Their county can’t stay in quarantine for eternity.

Now lets just calm down here a little bit and put this back into perspective. I don't see you guys getting this worried when you have to jump in your truck and drive 1000 miles in a snow storm to hunt an elk unit you know is full of grizzly bears and wolves. There may be some tough times ahead but I think they will eventually get a handle on this and hopefully a couple of good things may come of it. First there is no sense in trusting any country especially china with ALL of our medical supplies, that's plain stupid. Bring those 1000's of jobs home for our national security. Second, hopefully the CDC will learn from this and be better prepared in the future, fingers crossed on this one but we know how the government works. Anyone who's lived, hunted or worked in the great outdoors knows you can't fight mother nature. She usually wins. Just as a side note, I prefer blue shop towels over toilet paper anyways!
