This was a fun build. It started out as a H&R Handi Rifle in .444 Marlin. It had headspacing issues so it made a good candidate for a redux.
I started out by cutting the barrel tenon, then I cut the factory barrel in front of the locking block, bored and threaded the barrel stub for its new tube.
I also contoured the barrel to match factory.
Next I cut the extractor groove. Then I welded up and re-machined the extractor for the new cartridge.
I made and installed the new forend stud.
Muzzle threads.
Here you can see where the original barrel was cut.
I stripped the camo off the stocks and cerakoted everything. We went with Burnt Bronze and Graphite Black. I've named the project "Fool's Gold" because the stock pattern reminds me of Pyrite.
As spicy as the 460 Rowland is, recoil is still pretty minimal. It's a pussycat when shooting .45 ACP.
