I know, in this time when invoking the #fakenews hashtag allows us to deny or accept whatever is convenient, there are two pieces of #realnews this morning that are worth supporting if you are a hunter. Yup, both are bipartisan ideas. Really, that is not #fakenews.

1. A Montana access bill introduced by a Republican legislator and supported by a Democratic Governor - http://billingsgazette.com/lifestyl...tent=0C7ACEFBE893AAAAD590959C8BA8D1BD4E188276

2. A Federal bill co-sponsored by a Republican from Montana, Senator Daines, and a Democrat from Colorado, Michael Bennet - http://www.theoutdoorwire.com/story/1513650561yrs125as6fj

Each of these folks need to be thanked for the legislation mentioned and the idea that on our issues, working with both sides is the best solution.

It's good to see there still some on each side that can work with each other. Seem like there are so many extremists on both sides.

I sent a thank you to Rep. Doane this morning on Glendive's local facebook discussion page. I have ridden him hard before and am glad to give him thanks when it's due.

Breath of fresh air.

Rep Doane did a good job on the bill, and Access Specialist Ryan Weiss (DNRC) deserves a ton of credit for taking a skeleton of an idea and fleshing it out well after talking to just about everyone in the state who has a stake in the access issue. It was a fun bill to work on, and it really did bring all user groups together including UPOM & MWF, Ag, Motorized, etc.

RMEF's donation is the kickstarter the program needs. MWF has committed $5,000 for it as well. Anyone can donate to the program: http://dnrc.mt.gov/divisions/trust/mt-plan

I called Doane last year about a bill and wound up BSing with him on the phone for an hour. He's a pretty nice guy and I knew where he stood. The other bill is good too. At least Daines has been supportive of programs for landowner willing access.
