Sorry Jim, forgot to congrats you on the DS204 tag. Great hunt to go on, and I'd have applied for that unit but didn't have the time this year. I know where there are a few full curls in there, but I ain't telling because next year they be a curl and an 1/8th... :D

Good luck on the death march. hump

Thanks TB (you stalker) and Oak. Actually guys, I drew the 2nd half of the season. Since I don't live up there right now, I don't have time to make preseason scouts or do the walk in. So I'll probably be finding me a bush pilot out of Tok or Delta to fly me in.

TB, I assume you didn't draw??? Could that be the reason you are so bitter and don't want to share in on the gouge?

Thanks again guys.

No sheep or goats for the second year in a row. Me Bitter? Nah... :BLEEP:

I think they blacklisted Kodiak this year. I was checking everyone I know and didn't see where anyone drew tags. Luck of the draw I guess. :(

Is that the holy grail TMA hunt?

What ever tag you drew for the Dall, have fun. I'm starting to pipe dream consistently about a dall hunt.

TB

You need to reconsider sharing this information with me. By the time you draw this area these rams will be weathered and sun washed bones. You should tell me where they hide as it would be in the best interest of all parties. You will have my token of appreciation as payment for your troubles.

Pointer,

Though I love my goat pedestal I think I'll reserve future pedestals for any bears I take down in the future.

Holy grail is relative. Anymore I think a 14C tag is really the cats meow. But if to go with the masses, then you are correct the TMA is the one, however I drew Delta which borders TMA to the west. I am pretty stoked.

Ovis, Make sure you take lots of pictures !!! SOunds like the HT crew is gonig in force to AK !!

Lots of big rams in there, took a buddy in there who had never hunted in his life and drew first try, figured with that kind of luck he'd probably shoot a 40 incher. I was sitting in moose camp glassing the mountains behind camp and spotted 5 sheep that looked to be rams so we jumped on the wheelers and went after them. To make a long story short, 5 hours later he shot a beautiful evenly flaired 40 inch ram. We were hoping to draw that area but didn't as I know that one particular area quite well after having hunted it for 6years. You should do well as there are a lot of sheep throughout that area. Good luck!

I'm not normally as tight lipped about divulging information within the management areas. You shouldn't be either (you too TB). :D I'm already booked for the hunt...got the airstrip picked and all.

I'm pretty keen on everything to the east of the Rich, but not soo much in the Black Rapids area. Have flown it once or twice in a Cessna just piddling around. Not too many people know much about it. My guess is tough country, a few rams, but some possible bruisers in there.

Sheep hunters have been known to be tight lipped in these parts...:D We scouted this area back in '94 when one of my other buddies drew a tag for the DM area. We rode the wheelers in as far as we could but it got dark on us so we ended up sleeping under a tarp til the friggin skeeters woke us up. So we hightailed it to a spot where we could put up a tent and slept for a few hours, i got up to take a squirt and spotted a bull moose. After glassing for about 20 minutes I had found 6 bulls and many cows in a 1/4 mile area and this became our new moose hunting area. Been hunting there ever since and have seen tons of game come out of there over the years and if you draw a sheep tag, it's possible to come out of there with a moose, caribou, grizz, sheep, and wolf. Funniest thing I ever saw was a 250 Suzuki King Quad come behind camp with 2 hunters and a whole sheep on it. When do you plan on going in there Ovis? I will be probably be there in early September looking for a grizz and a bull moose.

Going in on the 24 or 25 of Aug. I don't think I'll be shooting a moose. Definitely will put down a grizz and maybe a bou if I see one, but it'll have to be a dandy.

I'm not sure when the caribou season runs but I think it's mid-August and is registration, at least where I hunt it is. You will more than likely see a grizz or 3. I won't be heading in there until probably the end of August. Good luck on your sheep hunt!
