Joking about the final answer, that's never gonna happen. This question comes up allllll the time so I thought I'd pull together a really deep dive on Colorado vs Idaho for OTC elk for the folks that ask the question.

Bet that even guys with decent amount of experience in both will find something new in there. Just starting off this side project/blog so any and all feedback welcome!

I have no idea which is better, but I intend to find out :)
Whoops, I didn't translate into kiwi but just substitute wapiti for elk and you're good to go. Joking of course, can't wait to get down and do another tahr/stag/chamois hunt one of these days, you guys have some great hunting...

I'm waiting for the really Deep dive here. So for it looks like a couple belly flops.
Honestly I can't compare them. I have only hunted Colorado. I can just say about Colorado that every year I see more and more hunters in the woods. I'm ready to change units and maybe that will help.

What would you want to see different on the CO vs Idaho comparison? OR you just don't like all the articles

If I were to do the "Really Deep Dive" I would do lots of research, show a lot of meaningless numbers, a few graphs no one can figure out, a huckleberry pie chart, which side is up or what the different colors mean no one knows, Compare the cost, compare the Elk numbers, compare the local beers, restaurants, have a video with John Denver singing in the background, then conclude there are too many Wolves in Idaho, too many hunters in Colorado, no Elk in either place, direct you all to Montana which has too many wolves and too many bears and charge you all 150 dollars for the info.

I have hunted both and like Idaho better but it has nothing to do with Colorado just I know a better area In Idaho than where I was in Colorado it was a very small private.
And I like going back to an area I know better and am more comfortable with. I think learning a area is better than always thinking the grass is greener some where else

They really need a sarcasm indicator in these posts. You're in luck with all those OTC units moving to draw this year, hopefully those stay low points for residents, you guys put up with a lot of traffic, much respect

Savy residents are smart enough to not hunt OTC units. Try one and you'll see why.

Thanks Obama

Definitely Obama's fault since he took away all the guns, err stopped us from buying guns, Err maybe got rid of all the Elk? I think Colorado might have a couple Elk left to hunt:
