Colorado Raghorn

I drew a muzzleloader elk permit in Colorado for a unit that has lots of permits. The plan was to shoot any legal bull if I was lucky enough to even find one. I had made two scouting trips and had seen a total of 6 cows. My expectations were pretty low. I hunted hard and tried to get away from the many people running around. I was extremely lucky when I ran across this guy Tuesday evening. I was working my way up a big Aspen patch, cow calling every now and then, when he bugled in a different set of aspens on the other side of the canyon I was in. I was able to work my way across the canyon and into the trees he was in without being detected. I got set up and cow called. He bugled and I cut him off with a bugle of my own. He was immediately on his way down to take care of business. He came into 30yds and I was able to make it count. I am extremely happy with my Colorado rag horn.

Yup, that'll do just fine. Congrats.

As long as you were willing to take any legal elk, that one would do ;)

Your hunt story is just what I dreamed up..... but it never happened for me.
