Colorado quadrupled it's wolf population last week.

Hunting $ were not touched for wolf reintro, per CPW. The legislation took funding from other sources, still tax $.
Including staff salaries to go to Canada and do all the capture work? I have my doubts.

And I’m sure work being done once they’re in state is largely being done with existing funds.

I heard direct assurances during my last 2 years on Sportsmen's Roundtable meetings that the entire budget for wolf reintro including staff included no license $. The specifics are available by searching HT for Colorado Roundtable. What you choose to believe is your prerogative.

I hope you’re right and they’re sticking to it

No such thing as wolves in CO (how long did we have to listen to THAT lie).... only extra large coyotes.

This has been covered here and in many other platforms but not given enough emphasis. 1_ too many people don’t understand that the primary focus of the folks that introduced the original bill ( and the 127 mtn lion bill) is to systematically eliminate hunting as a wildlife management tool. 2_. This is being used as a tool to eliminate public land livestock grazing by ranchers. 3_ Wolves and mtn lions are being utilized as political weapons by keying on their iconic nature to fool the uninformed non hunting public to support their goals.

Seems like one of the wolves from the 2023 release has made it east of the continental divide. It was confirmed southeast of buena Vista.
Yeah they can move wherever but the ballot measure said they can’t be released there. The question was when will they be introduced there? Not when will they make their way there.

Correct I just found it comical the people who voted for it didn’t want them in their backyards. Like you said. They will roam as they please.

One of my favorite things to do these days is read the comments on Instagram when CPW posts an update about anything related to wolves. It has become pretty clear that the main motivation was not really ecological integrity, but was really just meant to be a jab at the ranching industry. There are many motivations obviously, but it is interesting how this has emerged. Of course, those are instagram comments, so consider the source...

Voters went to the polls and said, "let's take a jab at the ranching industry and reintroduce wolves." ??? I think you're giving them too much credit.

Yeah our voters in CO tend to be way dumber than that 🤣

They made it down to Red Feather Lakes area last year, I think that's where one was killed by a lion. They will go where they please.

I'm just dying to see the news coverage of an elk getting eviscerated in front of a bunch of tourists in Estes or Aspen some day soon though...
