Hello All,
I will archery hunting GMU14 in Colorado this year and it will be the first time I’ve over to the unit. I am not a very experienced bow hunter as this will be my 3rd season. The last 2 seasons I hunted GMU8, unsuccessfully. I’ve been doing some e-scouting on Google earth and onX maps and I’ve been looking at the southern part of the unit and around Buffalo Pass. I’ve read GMU14 is a crowded unit and I plan to use the trail system to get a ways in and then head into the backcountry a ways further. I looking for any advise that could help assist me in being successful this year.
Thanks to all in advance!

The only area in CO that will have an increase in elk licenses this year is the area near and including 14. CPW is recommending a 22% increase in the # of archery tags in these units.

14 is OTC for archery, so not sure how they could increase the number of tags for there? :D

You are correct, Vanish and Keep. The chart I linked shows a 22% increase for "archery tags w quotas" and a 25% antlerless "rifle tags w quotas" increase, in DAU 2. That includes 2 OTC units, 14 and 214, along w draw units 3, 301, 4, 441 and 5. So the archery tag increase will just be in the limited units, and the rifle cow tag increase will be across all units. Unless I'm wrong, again.
