It was a really fun hunt. I passed on over 20 bulls, and should have killed one a bit larger than this one.
The pack out wasn't as awesome as Oak's. Shortest distance was to a road straight up about 1.1 miles away. I chose the longer but easier 3.7 mile pack out on old logging roads. Mostly down hill.
3 bears were spotted. No bucks.
For those who care about such things, the bull was about 150 yards away, quartering hard away. 3 shots with a 7stw. 175 grain eld-x. All exited. Can't ask for much more.
Both shot Monday morning on 2nd choice tags. Died about 30 yards from each other. I took two buddies who had never killed an elk before. Mission accomplished!
