Can someone explain WY General Tags?

wow, looks like one person cashed in 12 points on a general tag, wonder if that was intentional or an awww sh!t moment?

Maybe they were tired of waiting but there seems to be some great units with 6 points or more.

Perhaps he had private access in a general area. That would be worth the points .

I’ve seen people burn many points on lesser units for a variety of reasons such as hunting a certain ranch, with friends or family. Either way at least they are out of the points game now.

The general unit is managed for opportunity, but that opportunity is not uniform. Some zones are general and offer a great late season hunt while other units are laid out better for a high country hunt. There is still some research and sorting to do once you draw the tag.
Reviving an old thread and hopefully you're still on the site. do you have any tips for determining if a general unit is good for early high country vs later season lower country other than looking at terrain-types and elevation?
