Dumb boys should know enough to leave the girls alone or they're going to get their hearts broken (smashed, to be more correct!).
I had Columbus Day off of work so I sent a note to school excusing Paige so she could "Attend the Funeral of a DEER Friend". The Wyoming Youth General season was open and we had half a day to hunt. I can't believe how much Volleyball messes with hunting season! We agreed to have her back for practice that afternoon.
After looking over 130 deer (not a typo!) that morning we finally found a buck that Paige wanted to shoot. The first 8 bucks were 1.5 year olds. This guy was 150 yards and walking when she squoze the trigger on my 300. After he tipped over she started shaking like crazy and telling me how huntng "never gets old!"
She got a new Benchmade knife on Friday and was so excited to notch her tag with it.
Grip and Grin. Her 4th deer. Not bad for only her 2nd hunting season?
Proud Papa. I'm pretty sure I may not even pull the trigger this year. I passed a few deer earlier in the year and am planning on eating my good whitetail tag until the girls are finished with their hunts. I don't feel old enough to have my priorities change like that, but it is so much more fulfilling getting to hunt with my kids than hunting for myself.
She field dressed 95% of this buck. Still couldn't quite figure out how to cut out the bum hole. I'll bet money that she'll be confident to field dress her pronghorn in a couple weeks without my assistance.
Had her back to school in time to shower and clean-up and sneak into class for a test in 6th hour and practice after school. Gotta love rural schools where she can walk in with blood on her camo and not have the police escort her out of town.
