BMA/Easement opinion from you guys

I got a response from FWP, but don't agree with it.

What do you guys think?

If you don't want to read everything my main point is in the Proposed Action section on Page 12 & 13. #4.

If this is the case, why is the landowner also compensated through Block Management?

Like I said, I got an answer, but am not happy with it.

That does seem odd to be under a conservation easement and also be getting BMA funds. Seems hunting access is dealt with under the CE.

I dont think they should be getting BMA funds.

I'll admit I've never read through another CE but is this something they put in there regularly? If so, I've never heard of it.

I agree they shouldn't be getting BMA money. Especially since they were given $945,000 for the CE. The appearance of impropriety is sure there.

Hey Craig,

Good question about Block Management and how they fit with Conservation Easements. The main reason we include Conservation Easement lands into the Block Management Program is that the Block Management payment is for hunter impacts, not hunter access. The Conservation Easement payment is for the access, not impacts. Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Just saw this and read the Prop. Action... Me thinks this is Bullshit. Someone dropped the ball... The CE covers the hunting/public access issue.... It does not talk about BM paying for the "hunter impacts"...

I'm going to inquire about this with another BM specialist I know. just for kicks.
