Took a couple years longer than expected but I finally turned the dissertation into my committee Friday morning. After getting permission from the wife, I hit the road for eastern Montana for my one and only deer hunt of the year. Glad I went...Not too excited about the four mile pack out though...

Pending committee and defense, I suppose this is your last deer as a "Mr Mike". Congratulations on the dissertation completion (huge!!) and on your one-chance deer.

Care to share your topic and basic findings on your dissertation?

Good job on both accomplishments.
Now I don't have to share as much meat with you since you have that tasty muledeer buck to gnaw on.

I worked on the lower Yellowstone River studying the distributions, abundances, and movements of small nongame fish. Long story short, there's a pile of fish in the Yellowstone River and most of them move a lot between the Yellowstone and its tributaries. Also, dams are not good for fish nor are oil spills. However, oil spills are less bad when diluted by exceptional spring runoff.
