WTF is up with apologies lately? Everybody and their brother is "demanding apologies" from people. Someone recently demanded an apology from the Pope, and got it. Someone else is demanding an apology from some school board for disciplining their child, and isn't getting it. Others are demanding an apology from Bush for one thing or another. What good is an apology, really? When my mom made my brother apologize to me as a kid, I knew he did it because she made him, not because he had a change of heart. I'd go so far as to say that the majority of apologies aren't sincere and are worthless. So why, suddenly, is it all the vogue for people to "demand public apologies" from other people? What good is it?
