Barn Apartment kits/ideas

We’re in the process of brainstorming an apartment barn on our property next year. Currently looking at small 2 bedroom apartment above for family and friends visiting. However, I’m stuck on layout below. Ideally, oversized garage doors, small work Shop room and a man cave as our house is overridden with our toddlers. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Do you have any construction experience? Those kits are way over priced for what you get, and inexperienced diy homeowner/builders quickly get in way over their heads, when purchasing one of those some assembly required house kits.

I have built a few. It’s an easy affordable option. You can also make it very nice too .

We unfortunately live in a community with an HOA. So we some have some restrictions on height and the exterior.

A one story home on a basement or crawlspace is a better option with toddlers, than second story living space, anyway.

Sounds like a basement with a gun vault poured in concrete in a corner would be the best option.

That’s what I was leaning towards. I’ve seen some under stairs that turned out well, just not much..
