August blackmail

My buddy and I went for our annual early August alpine hunt a few weeks ago. Each got a nice blacktail, I hope you enjoy the photos half as much as we enjoyed the hunt.

Well... I live in southeast Alaska so that part of the logistics is the easy part. You can’t live here and NOT have a boat, so we took a boat to the base of the mountain. After that part it was really simple, walk up the mountain, sleep on top. Then the hunting began at roughly 345 am.

My buddy almost got his with his bow, he got a shot on his. Got a bad shot and we lost the blood trail. When we found this one it looked wounded, so he took it with my rifle. Pretty hard to close the distance with a bow. If you pull it off in the alpine you got my respect.
