Ten bears said, "north Idaho isn't known for it's large racks on whiteys"
HUH????
WTF are you talking about?
There are some absolute hog daddy whitetail in that N. Idaho country. I have a buddy who lived in Post Falls and he did some shed hunting up there. He showed me 6 sheds he found one day, two were B&C sized, easily would have grossed 170+. The rest were all in the 145-160 range, including a dead buck he found that grosses 158.
I'm really starting to believe you dont know much about anything...whitetail included. If I were to hunt whitetails in Idaho, I'd either hunt N. Idaho or the Clearwater.
Ten,
If you don't drink, and you don't smoke dope, then the only other thing I can figure out is that you don't wear a helmet on your ATV. Have you been taking too many limbs to the forehead???
"EG, get off your self righteous high horse, and walk with the rest of us." Uhhhh, sure Ten, but you seem to have forgot, you DON'T walk, you use a FLIPPIN' ATV!!!
"GH, I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but north Idaho isn't known for it's large racks on whiteys or muleys. A good sized buck around here is a 150 - 160, every once in a while we see something in the 180 range." Uhhhh, Ten, this may be the dumbest statement you have ever made, unless we remember the one about the Nuke reactors at Hanford being shut down, or the one where you wanted to define "spooked", or the one....
Never mind....
If you were to ever get off your ATV, and actually hunt, you would discover that North Idaho has some outstanding Whitetails. I haven't even hunted them very many times, but I have never found a shortage of big bucks. Here is one that was shot WITHOUT the use of an ATV, notice how it is much bigger than yours...
I thought you would like the ATV in the picture... And it was probably shot less than 100 miles from where your buck came from, and I don't even know where that is...
Check out the B&C map, and I think you will see North Idaho holds its' own in the Book.
Ten, do you actually get out much, and spend anytime outside in Idaho, without being on an ATV? This state has more habitat and critters than any other state, if we just flippin' protect them. Someday, you too, could kill a nice buck.
Now, if you are just trying to keep the Out-of-Staters from hunting in Idaho, you don't need to bad-mouth the animals. And I can respect that. You could always post pictures like this one, of the COMPETE destruction of Public Lands in Idaho by the Fat-Assed ATV crowd....
Or perhaps a picture of some Welfare Rancher's cows on Public Lands in MY PRIVATE IDAHO...
But don't blame the Deer for your lack of horns....
EG/BUZZ, let's commpare the #'s I posted to the ones you guys used to refute me.... <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> A good sized buck around here is a 150 - 160, every once in a while we see something in the 180 range.
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Did I say 150- 160 was scarce? I said it was a good sized buck....
And BUZZ refuted with <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> a buddy who lived in Post Falls ...showed me 6 sheds he found one day, two were B&C sized, easily would have grossed 170+. The rest were all in the 145-160 range, including a dead buck he found that grosses 158.
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Doesn't sound that much different to me.
EG, when you posted that map did you even doany math from it? Did you note that the5 northern counties in Idaho have produced 26 "booked" deer (1830-2001), while the farmlands across the border in WA have produced 42+ (1830-2001) note also that they don't keep track after the county produces more then 11. It would be safe to say that the rack your showing did come from within 100 miles of where my deer was killed, as the panhandle is about 60 across between MT and WA....
Please don't try to cofuse the issue with deer from Latah, Lemhi, or Clearwater counties, they rquire a different deer tag (Clearwater Deer tag) then the rest of north Idaho. Can you rattle with those things, or are they collecting dust in the "I'm so great" room? <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Uhhhh, sure Ten, but you seem to have forgot, you DON'T walk, you use a FLIPPIN' ATV <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> When have I said I don't walk??? YES, I do own and ride an ATV, but when have I said I don't walk? <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> remember the one about the Nuke reactors at Hanford being shut down <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yes I do, have you found the material yet that shows no NUKE reactors are being shut down at Hanford???
I don't blame the deer for my lack of horns, I blame my lack of interest in collecting them. Why would I want to "cull out" a large mature breeding buck (genetically superior) from the herd, then to take a younger one???? I have no need for a collection of horns, and smaller 3-4 pointers make good rattling horn to pass out to young hunters. What do you do with yours???
Ten bears, try being more specific...where you talking about WT or Mule deer.
You said, "whiteys or mule deer"...
If you think that a 150-160 class whitetail isnt a "good" buck, you're off your rocker. A 180 class whitetail is a freaking beast, and they arent "common" anywhere.
On the other hand a 150-160 mule deer is OK, a really good one is 180.
Regardless, N. Idaho is a good area for big whitetails...
<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> A good sized buck around here is a 150 - 160, every once in a while we see something in the 180 range. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
BUZZ, what kinda deer were you talking about?
<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> a buddy who lived in Post Falls ...showed me 6 sheds he found one day, two were B&C sized, easily would have grossed 170+. The rest were all in the 145-160 range, including a dead buck he found that grosses 158.
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Big Muleys come from the southern end of the state.
I'm gonna go down and look at a 190+ buck on display in Saint Maries (killed in that area) this week end when I go duck hunting. Wanna picture???
<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Regardless, N. Idaho is a good area for big whitetails... <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I guess it's alright, but I don't think anybody makes a point of coming here looking for a big buck.
EG, where was I doing the Clinton? You seem to be the one doing alot of dancing here.
