I've been watching a while now for a dirt-cheap digital camera to stick in a homebrew trail camera. I don't want to spend $$ on something that I'm going to modify and hang on a tree in the boondocks.

Anyway, it don't get any cheaper than this...click here. These had been on sale for $50 for quite a while, but were just recently marked down. There's no "memory sticks" or anything (USB downloads), but at that price I bought two so that I can swap them each time I visit the camera. If they turn out to be crappy, well, better $20 than $200, I always say.

So...good deal, or dumb move?

If you want to just want to "SEE" whats coming through that might work. Looks like it can take more then 12 pictures at a time but the res. Sucks hard.

But for the Price, You could by 5 of them

AND, It's cheaper then shipping 'bou back from AK

Yeah, it's a POS...but 640x480 resolution is fine for what I'm doing. Heck, you pay good money to watch porn videos at 320x240, so why can't I photograph deer at twice that resolution?

If it actually works and I get decent pics I'll consider stepping up the camera a little...but just a little.

Well...I hate to admit Moosie's right but...this camera's a POS! It's completely worthless for what I wanted. You have to manually put it in "flash" mode, and every pic gets a flash once it's in it (not auto-detect). If you don't take a pic in 60 seconds it turns itself off and loses its settings, so you have to manually set the flash mode again.

What's more, the "internal storage" isn't static, so when the batteries die you have 24 hours to replace them or you lose all your pics.

And, the part on the web page about using optional compact flash memory? NOT!

Completely worthless for my needs. The search continues!
