I found this turkey decoy and decided..... why not? Whittled a stake and set it out on the edge of the newly planted wheat field. Happily for the bachelor flock, they skirted just out of range. I ended up giving the decoy to the friend who tipped me off to the WIHA that held the birds.

This would have made me jump when I came across it! Reminds me of a liver-shot buck that I helped track for someone after dark one year. Flash light beam hit him and his head turned to look right at us.

I thought the same thing. He was dead for sure, but had to poke him just to make sure. He died right like the picture is. Convenient that the sapling was right there holding him up a little.
