Anyone loading their .300 WSM down to '06 or .308 levels?

I download my granddaughter's Camilla in 6.5 WBY RPM down to 6.5 Swede levels with H4895. There is a thread out there about it if I remember correctly. I held to 75% fill because you can debate whether flashover detonation is real, but you don't use someone you love to test your theory.

It is 1:8 so it doesn't group these loads like heavier bullets at full power. She has a 100 yard limit, so 2 MOA is fine.

LOL Sheltowee.

My very first hand loads were using a Lee Loader that I held in my hand, and filling the .308 cases with H4895. What a simple time that was. Made some darn accurate ammo back then too!

I was answering your question, but apparently you didn't catch that. Why is it any of your business that someone may want to load down their cartridge?
Why start a thread asking questions then get snarky with folks when they reply? My original response was what's the point, was it not?

which was a snarky response in itself. snark, meet snark. If that's all you have to add to a thread, why bother? As you can see, some of us are interested in what else we can do with the tools we have chosen. If I have to spell it out for you, my point was that sometimes you may loan a rifle to someone that can't handle .300 WSM recoil, so it's good to have options.

You're supposed to say "Sit on it!"

The funny thing to me is that no one blinks when they hear about a handloader hot-rodding a 30-06 to get 2900+ with 180 grain bullets. BTDT. We will tell him he is stupid and unsafe, but not question his rifle choice.

There are excellent reasons to download hand loads. Low recoil practice ammo comes to mind. Maybe you want sub-sonics for late night freezer filling hunts. ( Kidding!!!)
So long as you keep the load densities in a safe range, why not?

But hot-rodding is manly. Suggesting you might reduce a load is clearly threatening to some people. Might as well wear a dress for cripes sake.

I don't quite understand the question, or maybe some more background info would help.

I shoot whatever I want and make my loads to fit my needs. I don't always buy a lower power/smaller gun for each critter, so sometimes the loads are significantly reduced. I downloaded my 22-250 with trail boss powder for turkey hunting in the black hills several years ago to avoid meat damage.

Actually, I think you understand the question better than most. I bet that 22-250 loaded with trail boss was a hoot!

I have a load for my Kimber Montana 300WSM with 130TTSX, wouldn't say it is a download, but it sure whacks things.
What powder? I have some 130 TTSX's on the way from Midway, but was planning to see if my .308 liked them. I could be convinced to try them from my 300 WSM. I'm assuming a pretty fast powder, eh? Should be screamers out of the WSM.

They work great in the .308 also. Think it is RL-19 will look when I get home.
