Anyone else see this?

Litigation would have been filed on this within minutes after the announcement of any delisting. Ironically, the litigators' argument would have been USFWS not following the science, whereas now it is USFWS is following the science. USFWS seems to have changed scope so all lower 48 bears are managed as a single population. Montana is complaining about it, but this is actually a good thing because part of the thing delisting has had to overcome is the separation of Northern Continent bears (Glacier NP) from Greater Yellowstone bears.
The proposal included trucking some from each ecosystem.

Agree, and that is happening. But then an argument could be made like "we need x years to ensure breeding and genetic diversity, blah, blah..". the change eliminates that. It really is all about what argument can be made in a court of law. That is where we are these day. If you want to fix that, call your congressional rep and tell them to start on tort reform.

I didn't listen to all the blather and had assumed the thread was about wolves. Probably same things in play for bears though?

We should be hunting grizzlies in Montana. However, between the commission’s recent handling of black Bear management and the legislature’s handling of wolf management, there’s not a lot of reason to believe that grizzly bears would managed responsibly in Montana.

Maybe Sheehy can do something like Tester did for wolf delisting.
He was just sworn in 5 days ago, give him a minute. I’m a bit surprised your boy didn’t try some last minute smoke and mirrors attempt to delist G bears, since he identifies as a R when it’s election time.

There would be some awesome lawn bear hunting around Creston and Bigfork.

Hey, Hedge God, did ya see where our favorite Bozeman lawyer, the quintessential defender and protector of the Montana Stream Access Law, in a speech criticizing the Governor and the Legislature for attacks on the judiciary, referred to the Gov as "Gianforeskin"?!
Link?

The comments in his post are the best. My favorite was something to the effect of " I also complain when me and my billionaire friends can't hunt things we want to".

I just don't get the point of it all. Biden is out shortly. GG is term limited out so hes not working on reelection. So what was the point of the post?

Not sure things vary much anymore, anywhere. The parties see a chance to tar and feather, they do not pass that up! This lawyer doesn't exactly make a good case for himself with his chosen language though, even if it's true. Maybe yet another reminder that what you say in any semi public or public forum ought to be something you and your family can live with.

GG is auditioning for a future political position. Has been for years. Once you attach yourself to the public teat, it is hard to move back to a real job. He is following Biden in that respect.
