Yeti GOBOX Collection

Anyone else see this?

It’s an incredible looking bull elk managed by the WA G&F. If it was taken legally and within the rules of Fair Chase, I have no problem with it.
I think this bull should be in the record books, The bull and WA G&F deserve it. I the hunter gets anywhere near Sagamore Hill or Ishi, I would get some heart burn.

Yeah I meant to say how much has he contributed without the expectation of a tag, but yes the raffles do at least support something. As other have said, his social media is really what makes it hateable.

At least in Oregon i think the raffle $$ ODFW receives, helps offset declining tag sales, at least for many of the state’s east side units. Perhaps WA is similar.

The big raffle $$ is perhaps why they don’t make one year’s winner sit out the next year to give other people a better chance. Until then I’ll keep “donating” my raffle $$.

Yeah we're talking trickle down piss in a bucket compared to what he could be doing, and maybe he actually does give (without possibility of getting to shoot an animal) lots of money away to good causes, I really have no idea, but doesn't seem to be what he spends his time bragging about.

Agree. The good news is looking at last year's calendar, more auctions are coming up. I would like to see Sportsman's Alliance auction them all. They have tried to do more for WA hunters the last 2 yrs than the groups given these tags. But it highlights the problem hunters have. Rich hunters "donate" to the cause if they get a material benefit, like a tag. Maybe Jimmy John will eventually throw some nickels toward a group trying to protect hunters?

Interesting read. I also listened to some of the podcast with Haines. it would be interesting to know how many raffle tickets he purchased. Reminds me of the saying "what would you do if you had a million dollars". Also, reminds me that we are all addicted to something...... just some addictions are worse than others :sneaky:

As much as I marvel at his dedication, it's simply kind of meh, sad even.
Yeah pretty much confirms my original imagining of how it probably happened, had a friend who's son and a buddy drew late bull tags for that area (the regular draw permits not raffle), and they ended up shooting a bull the last day, on private property. They decided to both shoot it at the same time and they both tagged it, but the overall story was similarly boring.

Part of the reason why B&C doesn't mean much to me, if I were to care I think I'd prefer a division of records between private/guided and public DIY.
