Or does anybody want one?

I've been druling over some of those hotrods I had as a kid lately. I cant beleive the increase in prices! I'd love to get one of the shelby mustangs, but the prices are pretty dang high!

April had a 69 rs ss 396 350 hp 4 speed camaro.

now that same car is going for 30k

we would love to have another one.

I had a 1970 Mustang Fastback with a 351C 4V. Wasn't worth all that much, but when it ran, it hauled big time and that's all I wanted. Too bad my bad wrenching skills forced me to sell it.

Always wanted a black 67 RS/SS with Centerlines. To me, that is the perfect car.

Had a 67 Chevelle SS 396, balanced blueprinted pushing 425 horse, 3/4 racing cam, trick paint, roll and pleated interior, smoked glass, cragar SS mags, Mr Gasser 2 position 4sp. would do a 1/4 mi in just over 12 sec.
I used to love spraying smoke all over them MUSKRATS!!! :D :D

Ran a 1960 Ford Prefect Van, had a 2.8 litre Daimler V8, Ford 4 speed box, Morris Isis driveshaft and rear end {basically a tractor running gear},could lift the front wheels clean off the ground, was purple with big horny racing stripes, Tell ya even the Mazda Rx3 local traffic cops couldn't catch me, unfortunatly met an untimely end blowing out a front wheel, {who could afford good tyres} doing bout the ton, end over ended then barrel rolled along a length of farmers precision fencing taking out bout 200 metres wrapped the poor old van like a sardine tin, We were lucky man we were so pissed, we opened the rear doors and basically just fell out.

My father-in-law has a 67' Camaro RS convertible!! Fire engine red with a white ragtop, rally wheels. Sweet ride for sure. He told me to keep an eye on one since I was going to school in Phoenix at the time. A guy in Chandler had it for sale for $6K.....so my father-in-law bought it sight unseen. Drove it back to Idaho a few days later. It was nice to ride around in it while in Phoenix but the temps werein the high 110's too - OUCH!! I've got a 64' Chevy pickup, does that classify as a muscle truck?

Cool Guys!

I was lucky enough to have several ......... years ago. I hope to have an a/c cobra one day.
Gotta have goals, that is my motivation to work these crazy hours!

I'm trying to find one that I think will appreciate in the next few years so I can flip it toward the cost of my "Dream Car"

AMX looks under valued too!

Thanks for the input

Had a bunch that I wish I had now...'66 Sport Fury 383, '68 Charger R/T 383, ? year Hemi-Dart, '67 Cougar XR-7 390, '67 Pontiac Grand Prix 455. The best one I ever had, and sold it about 10 years ago was a '63 Corvette Stingray Split-window Coupe, F.I. 327, charcoal gray with red interior and red pinstriping, low miles...a total cherry. Someone offered me $60K for it and I took it! :( closest thing I can find to a boohoo graemlin!

You might of known by my user name i LIKE fast cars. Let's see the list would include 69 440 six pack Road Runner (stolen, I still check every one I see and carry the police report in my wallet) 70 small block rag top Challenger with Nitrous, Two 69 Z28s one my dad and I put a blown 426 in (police impounded) the other was bone stock with with 3500 original mile on it when I got it in 85 (made a small mint off that one), 65 GTO 389 tripower, 65 Barracuda bone stock, 59 F150 with a 390, 65 Comet with a 66 GT350 engiene. There were more but those were the nicest. Women cost me all of them except the Road Runner.
Now I'm getting ready to build a new 351W for my Bronco. I'm shooting for something around 300HP with 300-350 Ft#Torque.

I've always liked the AMX, never have found one. Some day I'm gonna build a big Block Gremlin.

JB Florida, it may not be quite the same but you can get a kit that everything from the early 5.0 mustangs bolts onto and make a replica AC Cobra for less than $10,000 IIRC. A guy I worked for in high school had a matched set of 64 1/2 GT350s. 12 digits apart on the VIN. A divore cost him those too.

Well, some would say that I am going backward, but I don't think so. I started by getting the engine that I will build the car around. I have laid my hands on a Cobra Jet engine :D

All it cost me was some time cutting weeds from around the rusting hulf of a truck (yes, it was transplanted in a truck) and yanking it free to tow it home. Now the real delima begins. What to put it in. Ahhhhh, to dream.

76 bronco, engine:1969 351w 4vheads,roller rockers,500 lift cam, forged pistons,4.11 gears with lockers....burns the tires, just flat out quick acceleration, gonna detune for my son when he gets old enuff, will put in a stock 302

Hey, 2fast...

The sweet part about the AMC motors is all the V-8 blocks were dimensionally the same outside. The 267, 290, 304, 327, and 343 shared pretty much the same block...the only difference in the 360, 390, and 401 Police Interceptor blocks were, they're cast with bigger jugs in them. The 360-401's run bigger valves, but it is an easy swap to put the big valve heads on the smaller displacement engines...remember, the blocks are identical bolt for bolt. AMC externally balanced their engines, so unless you go with an automatic, you have to make sure you have the right flywheel for your engine. I had fun finding the right flywheel for my 343 that powers my CJ-5 Warrior. Running 401 Police Interceptor heads, Crane low-end cam, Rhoades lifters, flat-top pistons...you name it. One other thing if you decide to stay with the AMC V-8, the little brass gear that drives the distributor and oil pump attaches to the front side of the cam gear and timing chain assembly. It will go on in two different positions, but only one is right. If you don't make sure the oil holes line up, this gear will shuck the teeth due to improper lubrication. I found out the hard way.

If you plan to transplant a Chevy motor, there are about 3 companies that make adapters, Novak Enterprises, Advance Adapters, and Kennedy Manufacturing. We have a bunch of small block Chevy CJ's running around here.

I have a white w/ marina blue 67 rs Camaro. 3 & 1/2" cowl hood, 30x10.5 Hoosier (minitubs a necessity for them) :D , a slightly warmed up 408 small block w/ 23 degree heads, a super victor intake plumbed w/ a Fogger NOS system and topped w/ a 1150 Dominator! Oh, a NOS Big shot plate also resides underneath the Dominator, too!

Powerglide w/ T-brake, 9" 4000 convertor. 12 Bolt w/ 4.11's, strange axles, spool and C-clips, backed by a girdle cover.

Stock suspension w/ mono leaf springs on back, cal-trac bars and 18 way adjustable shocks. Moroso springs up front w/ Comp engeneering 90/10 shocks.

Guess that pretty much covers it! The thing I like the most about my car. Is how pretty and subtle it looks. Just a nice clean "descent" running  street car. :D

Ya, you could say I have an infatuation w/ muscle cars.... ;)

Rogue, I wouldn't put a chevy motor in a chevy (no offence to you chevy guys). But thanks for the info.
I used to think about getting a 57 Belair so I could put a big block Ford in it. I'll probably put a BB MOPAR in the Gremlin. Nothing beats MOPAR horse power in my opinion. They are far and away my favorite thing to build.
I know a guy that has a 1 ton Chevy 4X4 dooly with a 440 in it. The chevy boys just scream when he opens the hood. LOL
I've worked on a few AMC power plants mostly in CJs. I think the biggest reason I don't like chevys is almost any one that can turn wrenches can build one. Everything pretty much interchanges and is real straight forward on the SB.
As you pointed out in your post, AMC like Ford and MOPAR require a little more thought and attention to detail. I like the challenge, but I grew up watching my older brother build race cars from the time I could sit in a stroller. There was a time when it's all I could think of. I must have grown up some, somewhere along the way. Damn the bad luck. :D

I had a 70 Mach1 that was a real fun car. Sold it for education money...
Dream car would be a 67-70 Shelby Mustang GT500
Or a firebolt (ford guys would only know that monster)

Right now I've got a 1957 chevy 150 wagon peeled apart, just have to lift the shell off to start on the frame. Ground up resto. Have a 455 out of an 86 Buick Riviera going in. Also just picked up a 70 Lincoln MKIII with the factory 460 that puts out 365 hp at the wheels with the big boat of a car. Like to put that into a 4X4.
Guys gotta do something when its off season.

My neighbor has a 57 buick special for sale, he has it put back into excellent shape, actually looks almost like it came off the show room floor...10K...

WOW, Car guys and we hunt too ....way cool!

I have had a couple of 4 speed AMXs a 68 & 70.
One had a cross ram and I wondering if it was an SS model because of some of the options (53 made)
My list of good cars is short, but I still hope to get another pretty soon.
67 chevelle SS395 convertable
70 Boss 302
66 GT mustang
70 Chevelle 427 6 pack 4 speed
68 corvette
(the AMX was fastest)

Ive been talking to a guy who has a 68 Shelby mustang that may wind up down here .... We will see soon I guess.

That was interesting about the amc stuff

Does anyone remember the '69 AMC SCRambler? They took the boxy little AMC American and crammed a 390 (AMC) in it and coupled that to a 4-speed through a Hurst shifter. Had a full roll-cage, no back seat, and only came in a red, white, and blue color scheme. I think they cost about $3700 right off the showroom floor, and surprised a lot of Camaro and Mustang owners.

And just think...gasoline was less than $.50 a gallon then.
