Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

We recently changed out TPA for our 401k to T. Rowe. I either missed the fine print, or didn't notice but when they received the transfer of funds they automatically allocated each participants balance to an age based fund. Had those funds just be sitting in cash as the blackout lifted yesterday I would have had the biggest dumbshit win as opposed to the same loss we all enjoyed.

Yeah, I left a sizable proceeds from a real estate sale in January in money market fund. Glad I did given how much my 401k has declined over that period.

happy I did a little selling early in the year to have some cash for this red ticket sale

T Rowe is a good choice though, IMO. I haven't been a fan of age based funds in the past due to their standard inclusion of foreign funds...but IMO that's a real strength right now.

It’s truly a good question.

I suspect it’s largely due to silver’s wider industrial uses compared to gold which would see far more hits in the world of broad tariffs. Could also be investors offloading gains and the flight to bonds?

I’m not exactly silver hoarder either, but I’m more recently committed to getting a stack of 20 ASEs a year and maybe some other fun things occasionally. Mostly for the fun of it and to have a cool thing to pass down to grandkids hopefully someday. That’s what my dads dad did and I thought it was really cool. Most of my silver and gold came from him.

I do pretty much only buy through Costco. Executive membership gets you 2% back and Fidelity CC gets you 2% back so you nearly always come out under spot price.
Didn't think about the industrial uses.

Not sure where to put this, so I’ll just drop it here.

If you’re not concerned about this, then I guess I don’t know what to say. I wonder if Elon is this lax on data privacy/security at his private companies?

A healthy market goes up and down. Too many on here are annoyed with a down market. Markets don’t go up forever people.

To ease your minds, have a look at this chart of the S&P500 going back to 1980 and note that despite average intra-year DROPS of 14.1%, (the low is represented by the 🔴), 34 out of the past 45 years the S&P500 finished POSITIVE! —12/31 annual returns represented by gray bars.

Have a plan, not a portfolio.

If you’re taking money in retirement solely out of a stock/mutual fund portfolio, you don’t have a plan. This is when you draw your income from safe products and, should you have disposable income… now is the time to buy!

In case you think “this time is different”, note that in March of 2020 the 🔴 (lowest drop in the S&P500 that year) was -34% IN ONE MONTH. Fastest decline ever in US history. By the end of the year, the S&P 500 finished +16%.

All will be fine. Turn off the news and go for a hike outside.

When coupled with this news from the other day..

And this news from a few months back

Yes, we should be scared.

Something is happening with real estate. Stuff that has been for sale for awhile at crazy prices are now under contract or contingent. There are also some places coming on the market and selling pretty quick at even crazier prices.

People are looking for safety is my guess

2020 was a global pandemic that eventually would kill millions. This is an economic self-harm by a failed business man that wants to be revered like a King. We also printed $4-5T in 2020 to make it rebound. So there are some differences that should be noted.

Now it’s time to figure out where that 4-5 trillion is going. Real estate ? Bonds? Tbh I haven’t looked at bond volumes the past few days

Since you brought it up, do you recall where that global pandemic originated and who funded it?

And he was at the helm in 2020 when all that mess started as well. People seem.to forget that.

Amazing what he has done to damage the country, under the veil of doing good, and people have taken it hook, line and sinker.

End rant.
