Let me just say how fascinated I am by Kevin Hassett. Sure, when I listen to him I typically want to throw my computer at the TV, but he sure can spin. So much I think he actually believes it, but maybe that is the core of my fascination. Is he lying or just bullshitting? The guy could find a positive in anything the boss does. I guess I get why he was rehired for the second run.

So is it finally time to buy in more? Or are we going to correct more before it's finally over?

Still on the higher end of valuation but getting oversold. I'm finding it harder to find things to short. There may be more risk to the upside, but this requires a change in the Admin's view on tariffs. Not sure I want to bet on that. Recession seems all but guaranteed on this path.

Talked to a prominent investor after Lutnick made similar comments last week. They yelled "WTF does that even mean?". It is all nonsense. They just hope supporters continue to follow.

And I guess pro-business policies mean making them pay for tariffs and telling them to STFU.

I hope the Dow keeps dropping this last hour and closes down 1,000+ today and tomorrow. The more the better. There needs to be a jolt and wake up call to Washington to stop this tariff stupidity. Might not make a difference but I'd prefer a mini blowup now versus a much bigger one later this year.

I'm old enough to remember when immigration, inflation, and the economy were key election issues in 2024. Ironically, I think more Americans have been fired since Jan. 20 than illegal immigrants. How are the other two looking?

Agree--I think it needs to get real bad to change the administrations course, and if that happens soon enough I think we might see a decent recovery or at least back to not panic territory for some.

I try to always look for a silver lining. This thread is presentling one at the moment.

There is a stark absence of anyone posting in favor of Trump's economic tariff policy.

One of my good friends from horseback pointing dog field trials, is a Canadian. We talk on the phone, every week or so. I am reasonably certain that most Americans have no idea how badly we have pissed off Canada. There will be a scar on our two countries relationship for a long long time. Of all of the disruption, it is the dissing of our friends and the cozying up to Putin, that most disheartens me.

But, didn’t pretty much every publication and person who has ever used the word “economics” in a sentence say loudly that a ham fisted approach to tariffs was going to be a bad idea?

My brother and I had lunch today, and I told him that is on the Democratic party to show themselves to be a rational landing spot for disaffected center right voters.

Each party has its fringe, which is okay, except when one of the fringes gets ahold of the power.
