Today in the House FWP Committee at the Montana Legislature, SB 83 and SB 341 were tabled. These bills would have made it virtually impossible to conduct transplants of game animals. 83 applied to bighorn sheep while 341 would have affected all animals, including game birds and fish. These were bad bills for wildlife and for potential efforts to establish new herds in suitable habitat.

A Bill is tabled when the Committee Chairperson figures it doesn't have enough support to even get it passed by the Committee to be heard on the floor by all the Legislators. It isn't dead and can be brought back up possibly with changes that the sponsor or members think would get it through.

If EACH of you Sportsmen would join and support one or more of the organizations that are there every day to protect your interests Sportsmen could be in the drivers seat in the Legislature. Instead these Sportsmens groups usually have to play defense against some mean-spirited attacks on wildlife and sportsmen. Please join and actively support Montana Wildlife Federation, Montana Sportsmen Alliance and Montana Bowhunters Association.

Being a true sportsmen is more buying a license and going kill something.

BTW, where were Sportsmen for Wildlife, Safari Club and other ehr lF

MT Wild Sheep Foundation was a huge player in killing these bills as well. Jim Weatherly and the board made several trips to Helena to talk with legislators.

House FWP did good yesterday.

I saw lots of people turned out to testify against 341. Even the Even the Great Old Broads for Wilderness chimed in ;)
