At home with the kids today and we were watching the nature channel. Wolves and Warriors came on and I hadn’t watched it before. It was a Veteran healing based show and trout that it may be good. It started out with Veterans rescuing wolves from private owners who had them before animal control dispatches the animal.

While I don’t like wolves I understand what they are doing and support removing a animal from deplorable conditions.

That is when the show took a turn and they starting messing with what appeared to be legal trapping sets. Posting blurred out pics of what appears to be legally harvested wolves.

The way the editor framed the content was they were justice warriors interfering in illegal activity.

Last I knew we had laws for trapping, hunting, hunter harassment, and Game Wardens to police it all.

We don’t need vigilante “justice” brainwashing the children that watch Animal Planet. I took the opportunity to pause it and educate my kids on what they were really doing. We talked about trapping seasons set up by the Biologist. How the science of managing species help the species. How the show was presenting a illegal narrow perspective on wildlife management. How hunting is a great tool for the species and that we need to share the landscape in proportion.

It turned out good for my kids, just disgusted that naive parents see this and vote according to this brainwashing.

Ok rant over, thanks for reading...

Any idea what state they were in, if in fact they were messing with legal sets you could/should send the link for the episode to the DNR of that state.

I would guess if they were in WY or MT their behavior would be illegal in MN it would be legal, so the context matters.

In any case, I find it very frustrating with shows don't explicitly make the distinction between legal hunting and poaching.

I couldn’t find out what state. The traps had tags on them so it was a legal set. It may of been for Bobcats or Coyotes.

The hunter pics look like they came off from FB so my guess is not too many idiots are going to post a trophy shot of a wolf if it wasn’t legal in that state. Biggest issue is that the editor made it seem all immoral and illegal. All appeared legal sets or kills. Who knows though, they don’t have to cite where they got information from.
