American prairie. What's the issue?

Family time > hunting time. I don’t hunt as much as I wish, but with a 1 year old and 6 year old, hunting can wait. These are years I’ll never see again with my kids. He never specified why his priorities were misplaced. I was letting him know that if it was family priorities, good for him because I choose the same. Hope this answers your questions. Skol
Thankfully, my kids are old enough to be my hunting partners whenever they want to join me.

I can’t say I didn’t hunt, just not nearly as much as most years. I started a new job and kid’s sports on the weekends limited my archery season hunting.

I did get some time to hunt during rifle and could have killed a couple of cows had I been willing to fill my elk tags with a cow early on the hunt. I wasn’t.

I actually had a good fall. I just overlooked the “filling the freezer” part of why I hunt.

Forest Reserve act of 1891, they were called Forest Reserves until the name was changed to National Forest by the Fulton Amendment.

To that end western Montana has literally had forest reserves for over 100 years, not to mention Yellowstone.
Cool! How long have we had BLM lands?

Truman combined general land office and grazing service. Land offices job was to sell public lands, grazing was to administer grazing…

So the BLM isn’t really relevant to this topic as it was never created as a “reserve” or conservation agency.

If you’re trying to prove me wrong I’d go for National Grasslands ;)

The forest service isn’t really my vision, I’d like to see the valleys in western Montana restored to Lewis and Clark days, not only stopping development but reversing it. Everyone deserves wide open spaces.

The point with APR is there isn’t really a vast Prairie habitat protected in the same way we have protected other landscapes.

The other point and it’s a question, is APR outbidding other offers? Is the reason the are able to buy lands because they pay market value and their isn’t much competition?

Western MT is a hot and already developed market, is eastern?

Sure I’d like to see grizzly bear habitat restored in Sacramento… though probably a red herring here right?

You better start a go fund me, going to cost a hell of a lot more than APR. Probably most of your donations will come from city dwellers. Problem is success would mean all those city slickers will end up scattered all over the rural areas even faster than they are scattering themselves. Cities are sacrifice areas at this point.
