Albino/piebald

I was Sent this picture this morning and it got me thinking of the number of piebald and albino deer I’ve seen in that area of the years.

I shot this one probably 20 years ago. It was still just legal shooting hours but this thing looked like it glowed in the dark. Shot it with an old 30-06 enfield loaded with Remington bronze tips, which to this day is still one of my favorite guns to take out.
I was a young teen when I got that deer. Now days I think I’d enjoy watching it walk versus harvesting it. I guess things change with a little age.

Several more deer like that have been taken by other hunters in that area.

Anyone else have any piebald/albino genetics that are common around their areas?

I’ve seen 3 or 4 over the last year. One I’ve been watching almost daily for a year. She seems to always hang in the back of a field nearby. Shocked she made it through PA gun season last year.

There's a lot of albino deer in Central Wisconsin (Marshfield area)
Illegal to kill them here. Neighbor killed one a few years ago, eyes and nose were pink, he thought it was ok because it had a brown forehead.
My cousin killed a small piebald buck about 20 years ago. I will see if i can find a picture

Our mature bucks usually field dress between 180 and 200lbs prior to the rut.

Finally saw one in person this weekat one of my wells I take care of. A guy that lives there showed me pics last year a doe had twins, one was albino and one was white with black nose and hoofs. The albino was a buck. Got to finally see him. Pretty neat!!

I shot this one in 2016, I woke up, decided not to go, took a shower, made breakfast, watched some TV, and then decided I might as well get in the stand at almost 9:00! Thirty minutes later he came out.

Had albino doe on a farm we hunted in early 2000s. Watched her as a fawn and yearling then 2 years old she had a button buck. Hung in the same area always never ventured far from there. She was feeding on a oak ridge I was bowhunting one year and as I approached the button ran off she just stared, watched me climb in the loc on and then bedded within 30 yds of me for awhile. Indians always said it was bad luck the next year if you shot one.

We have some blacktails here on the Oregon coast with piebald genetics. I've seen a few, including a nice 3 point still in velvet one summer, pretty cool to see. We also had an albino cow elk on the outskirts of town running around a couple years back, was in the local paper even. Cool looking creatures.

Wasn’t able to get a good picture in time but last year I saw an albino cow elk. Easily one of the coolest things I’ve seen out in the woods.
