9-11 bull

I just spent 8 hours cutting, grinding, and slicing meat. I fried up a few hamburgers during the time and he is VERY tasty and he was a little pre rut. I am more pumped up about the bull now than when I harvested him as I was SO STRESSED out about the high temps on the day he died, but I put out an APB and had a few guys show up and help me get the meat to ice in a hurry. I lost NO meat even though it was 80f when he died. I thank this bull for feeding my family for 1.5 years. And thanks for all the positive comments from you guys. I spent a lot of time picking grass, twigs, and other plant matter off the meat as I was cutting but this is not my first go around with high temp elk hunts. Word of advice, DO NOT think you can leave the quarters whole in high temps. You need to bone it out and spread the meat all over the place in the shade to get the heat out. It may get a little dirty or full of plant material but if you leave the quarters whole you will not have a good outcome.
