8X vs. 10X Binos ???

When I was shopping for my Swaro EL"s I was torn between 8x & 10x. At Cabela's they had some posters across the store of some animals. They were small and supposed to represent a bear and I can't remember what at else at 500 yards. I didn't see a lot of difference between the two bino's. It was late in the afternoon so I stuck around to do side by side comparisons of distant objects outside as it was getting dark. I went with the 8's as there was a difference in their light gathering capabilities.

I compared the Zeiss Terra ES's, Vortex Talon HD's, and Nikon Monarch 7's today at Bass Pro.

The Zeiss were my least favorite of the 3 and the Vortex and Nikons were very comparable. All 3 were 10 X 42. The Vortex seemed to have the advantage when grassing out the window into the trees across the road. The Nikons seemed brighter when glossing a couple big horn sheep inside the store.

I'm going to say it homes down to the warranty where the Vortex holds the advantage.
