7mm Rem Mag for Pronghorn?

I have killed then with everything from 60-300 grains bullets, if this is actually a serious question your fine...

I used my 338 Win. Mag. with 200 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips. Worked great at 330 yards. Destroyed the heart. Yes it's a little overkill but I hadn't shot anything with the 338 yet and wanted to break it in. So, the 7 Mag. will do just fine.

Pronghorn antelope are relatively small, thin skinned animals. A high velocity bullet, like from a 7 mm Rem mag, through the shoulders or hams of an antelope, deer, or even an elk will ruin a lot of meat. Put that same bullet tight behind the animal's shoulders and through his lungs and you will have a quick kill with very little meat damage.

I've only had a 7 mm Rem mag for a little less than 20 years. I consider the 7 mm Rem mag one of the best all around cartridges for North American big game animals. My favorite bullet for mine is the 160 grain Accubond. I've used a 7 mm RM for deer, antelope, elk, caribou, muskox, and saw it used on a one shot kill of one of the largest moose ever killed in Montana. I've had two 7 mm Rem mag rifles, and also used them on two African hunts for a variety of antelope from bushbuck to Kudu.

As others have posted, you don't need the power of a 7 mm RM for pronghorns, but it has good long range ballistics, and IMO it doesn't have excessive recoil.

I hunt whitetail with a Rem 7MM with 110 grain Barnes triple shocks, that bullet flies but have little to no extra meat damage, i would use that in a heartbeat from antelope.

My 7mm is my go-to antelope rifle. I load 120gr barnes TTSX bullets at around 3250fps. Shoots like a laser and not much meat damage if hit correctly.

All of these I shot with 7 RM and either 160 accubonds or partitions, worked just fine.

Plenty of others as well....

Piling on.....I am not a 7 RM guy, 30-06. But I am of a mind (as has been mentioned above) that you shoot what you are comfortable with and shoot well. I have found that my '06 like Federal TBTs in 180gr. I know these are plenty good for anything in North America (save maybe brown bears). I have taken 3 PHs with it from 150-390m and have had no issues. Keep just back of the shoulder and you are G2G!!

The 7mm Rem Mag is a great all-around "western" hunting cartridge. It'll do just fine, like it has for 50 years.

I'll be taking my 7mm RM, Ruger Number One, with handloaded 140 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips this year. Going for mule deer & pronghorn. Your 160's should be just peachy.

7mm will work great. I used a 7mm for every antelope I've harvested except for 1 or 2.

Here a couple of bucks taken with 7 rm.

Seeing all those lopes make me cringe. I can still remember the stink of rutting lope. Fun to hunt but...they do tend to stink.

Here in NV our antelope season is during their rut. I have never found any of our antelope to be stinky and every one was delicious.
