Hey guys. I'm new to reloading and am looking forward to getting a receipe dialed in for my Winchester Model 70 300 WSM. For bullets, I've decided to go with the Hornady ELD-X in 200 grain and am wondering if anybody out there has a recommendation for what powder to use. I don't know the details for the difference between one powder or the next, so am hoping someone with more experience in that department could help steer me the right way. Thanks in advance!

I'd definitely consult the Hornady manual, but I've had good luck with Reloder 17 and Ramshot Hunter for the 300 wsm. Haven't tried that bullet specifically.

I really like H4831SC in my 300 WM, but I have no idea if the short mags have better options. I would check the hornady manual and see if that's on their list of powders. I know Nosler has H4831SC load data for the 300 WSM.

I'm working with MagPro with my 300WSM but H4350, H7828. I hear a lot of good about Reloader 17 in WSMs with a 200grain bullet you may need to look at slightly slower powders like Reloader 19 or 22

With the 200gr bullets look to IMR7828,H1000 or RL26. Fed215m or CCI250.

Just started playing with some IMR 4955 and so far it looks like a winner. My first set of 65gr loads pushed 180 gr. ABs at 2920 fps. and made nice little clover leaf groups.

I'd try some Reloder 26. It's a new powder, only been around for a year or so, and there's not a lot of data available. But it's turning out impressive velocities in quite a few different cartridges. I'm getting 3100 fps with 140 grain Bergers out of my 270 Win. My previous load with H4831 and the same bullet was at 2850 fps. Berger data shows a max charge of 72.8 grains of RL26 and a 180 grain Berger, with a muzzle velocity of 3119 fps.

I'm using RL15 in my 300WSM and had very good luck, but I'm only loading 165gr accubonds.

Has anyone tried the new RL16 in the 300's yet? I'm just curious on how it performs
