I myself do not take long range shots. I strongly believe in shot placement and humane kills rather than taking chances of wounding shots at long distances. Nearly all of my kills whether it be antelope, deer, or elk I try to place where I can get a double lung shot. If I can't get a good kill shot, I do not take it. I have let a lot of animals go over the years for that reason. For me 30-06 is the perfect hunting rifle.
