30-06 180 grain copper bullet performance

What would you recommend for the 300 Weatherby? I realize that at some range the bullet slows down to 308 velocities, but should I stick with 180gr due to the initial high velocity?
The 175LRX would be a great choice.

I shot an antelope buck and mule deer this year with the Barnes 175 LRX, both at 250.yds. The exit hole on the antelope was almost the size of a baseball. I think I hit the far rib square on. Both animals didn’t make it 30 yds. Both good hits behind the shoulder. I love my flatirons and taco meat too much to destroy the front shoulder!FF0A6BAB-0FE4-4FAD-B9C0-D144CF16708B.jpeg4E5835E3-E2C3-4B25-8E85-5787C5906C03.jpeg

I have switched to copper for my .243, although sceptical at first I have been really impressed, I dropped down from 100 grain lead to 80 grain copper and push them fast, they do the job very effectively.
Cheers

I have been using etips for awhile. 180 grain out of a 300 win mag are pretty spectacular. There's no second guessing if you hit or not. Unfortunately right now things are hard to get your hands on. Got lucky last week and got 2 boxes of them. That's all they had or I would have picked up 4.

If you want to hand load you can turn your 30-06 into a 300 Sherman. It maximizes the case capacity and still retains enough neck for consistent seating tension. I shoot a 181g Hammer Hunter at 3039fps at the muzzle. I’ve had it over 3100 but the accuracy was not as good as the lower velocity. I shot a 1.5” group at 530 yards with it. Worked well this year on elk.

It also shoots a 180 Accubond at 3120fps. This reamer really wakes up the old cartridge.

Re-chambering the venerable .30-06 to .30 Gibbs simply rocks. I am just playing around with powders I have open but I am propelling the 190 Berger at 2806 FPS using RL17. Still have room for more OOMP.

I used 165 Barnes Fed. when they made them. Excellent round.
Using Nosler AB's in 165 for last 10 years. Excellent round.
Might see if the E-tips shoot as well as the AB's,if I can find any ammo for the real price.
165's have put down many elk, deer& pigs in my 06.
