26 year wait - Utah elk hunt

Only bull I made a play on was this one, opening day. Camped below and across from him evening before and was in perfect wind position at daylight when other hunters and guides moved in from downwind and above before shooting light and started a stampede.
I hope Troy was close by, because something about this smells fishy.

There are some of the absolute best elk units in the west here in UT. It pisses me off to hear the reports from guys like you of what happens out there. Unfortunately, it's not surprising to me and many others. It may be hard to believe, but there are a lot of good hunters in the mountains as well. It's just hard to see when others are out there doing things like you listed. Good luck and love the updates!

Dear @Big Fin,

Please delete this thread immediately. It is FAKE NEWS!! There is no way that many big bulls can be found running around in one hunting unit in so short of time. @Beaver Hunter is obviously trying to get hunters to waste their hard-earned points on a questionable unit.

My request is purely altruistic and certainly has nothing to do with the fact that each new photo posted to this thread greatly reduces the odds of me other HuntTalkers ever drawing the tag.

Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

BAKPAKR

Thanks for the update. The two way radio thing is especially infuriating. Unfortunately the “Utah Way” is likely coming to every western state. We have a crew that operates in eastern Montana with this style. A few of them spent time in Utah as guides. They are sketchy sob’s. And why it’s important for states to implement fair chase rules and laws as soon as possible before that bs gets ingrained in the hunting culture. They will get what they have coming to them at some point. Karma works both ways. You’re going to get a big bull. You deserve it.

I think it’s a multitude of factors: people waiting so long for a tag that they try to help anyway they can when someone draws, straight up horn porn/competition type reasons, the amount of tags sold at auctions and lax outfitter/guide laws and also that Utah family groups can be super big anyways

Best of luck with the hunt, awesome update!

@Beaver Hunter - sorry to have to deal with so many of my fellow Utards out there hunting. These hunting entourages, loaded with flat brims, skinny jeans, and radios are a joke. The Wildlife Board had the chance to tighten the regulations surrounding this type of behavior, but stopped short of making the regulations universal - regardless of weapon and unit.... morons...
